THE CLIENT
Founded in 1989, Citrix is the global leader and the most trusted name in application delivery infrastructure. More than 200,000 organizations worldwide rely on Citrix to deliver any application to users anywhere with the best performance, highest security and lowest cost. In November 2007 Citrix acquired XenSource, Inc. of Palo Alto; this acquisition moves Citrix into adjacent server and desktop virtualization markets, expected by Citrix to grow to nearly $5 billion over the next four years. The combination of Citrix and XenSource brings together significant customer, technical, channel and go-to market synergies. This will allow Citrix to extend its leadership in the broader Application Delivery Infrastructure market by adding key enabling technologies that make the end-to-end computing environment far more flexible, dynamic and responsive to business change.
THE ROLE
VP ENGINEERING
This was the opportunity to lead the worldwide XenServer Virtualization Engineering Teams. This position was accountable for leading the engineering, test, and release management teams in developing and launching the products. An outstanding VP Engineering was required with a track record in developing complex systems software/systems management software in time critical customer focused environments with regular new product releases; a credible leader with the ability to engage with and motivate engineering staff at all levels.
THE RESULT
This was the first time I had worked with Gillamor Stephens; they provided a very professional and effective executive search service. I was particularly impressed by their industry knowledge, the speed of the assignment and the quality shortlist that they produced, which included candidates from Europe, US and Asia/Pac regions. I look forward to working with them again in the future as we build our Virtualization and Management Division.
