In May 2000 the UK government awarded five licences to run third-generation (3G) wireless services. Hutchison 3G UK Limited acquired the licence reserved for a new entrant and is the UK's first video mobile network trading as 3.

3 UK is challenging the old networks with great value pricing and exciting video mobile services. In August 2004, 3 announced a customer base of 1.2 million customers, with this announcement 3 became the fastest mobile network to a million customers in the UK.

 

In 2004, David Cooper became CTO of 3 UK and needed to broaden his management team; he approached Gillamor Stephens for this need due to our past successes within 3.

 

David Cooper, our CTO (Chief Technical Officer) set us a brief to enhance his management team and we decided that Gillamor Stephens were the most appropriate Executive Search firm to work with as they know 3 so well. They helped create detailed Role and Person profiles and went out to the market to generate strong shortlists.

These roles were particularly hard to source - being at the leading edge of technology and requiring strong all rounders meant that the pool of candidates was small. Gillamor Stephens provided strong short lists and they were integral to identifying the right candidates; supporting us and the candidates very well through the offer and joining stage.
