About ReVolt Technology
ReVolt Technology is a Swiss based venture backed company creating highly disruptive next generation battery technology. ReVolt' s rechargeable Zinc-air battery is the technology breakthrough that will breathe new life into consumer electronics - mobile phones, laptop computers, digital cameras, etc. - and give users the freedom to go further and the power to more than ever before.
Rechargeable Zinc-air batteries have more than twice as much energy than conventional Li-ion batteries, they cost less to manufacture, they are safer to use, and they are environmentally friendly. The net result is a new battery, developed by ReVolt, that will transform the way we use mobile electronic devices, multiply our lifestyle choices, and reenergize the business and pleasure of day-to-day life.
The Role
The founding CTO, Dr. Trygve Burchardt, become the Chief Science Officer focusing on his core skill and passion as an electro-chemist and scientist. This created the need to hire a CTO with a proven track record of taking science through productisation to full volume production. The CTO function works closely with the CSO and his team, but will have full accountability for the technology roadmap and its realisation. An exciting opportunity with a truly disruptive technology company and a rare opportunity for global market dominance by a European technology company.

We needed an executive search partner that could complete a global search for ReVolt Technology, an exciting but early stage battery technology company.We decided to go for Gillamor Stephens based on prior positive experience from working with Gillamor Stephens in other Northzone portfolio companies,and their deep understanding of venture backed technology companies. We needed a partner who could evangelise the ground breaking technology of the company to a highly sceptical audience; Gillamor Stephens proved very effective at this. We had a strong shortlist and Gillamor Stephens managed the interview process, which was complicated due to the number of Board members and their geographical spread across Europe. They also managed the referencing and offer process, resulting in the hire of James McDougall from Solicore, a great hire who is already making an impact.
We were impressed with the expertise demonstrated by Gillamor Stephens, and we have now engaged them in another search for Revolt as well as discussing further CEO searches for a Northzone portfolio company.
